Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I don’t know about you but I absolutely loathe ending up with make-up on my towels after washing my face.  I wouldn’t say I’m lazy with my face routine (I never, ever go to bed without washing my face) but I like to keep it short and sweet – cleaning and moisturing with some exfoliating and a face mask in between – but I almost always end up with a not-so-pretty outline of my face on my towels.

Hello Garnier Miceller Cleaning Water! There has been loads of hype around this product as it is meant to be the lazy girls lifesaver as it requires no rinsing – you literally just wipe away and you good to go. I still need to wash my face to feel squeaky clean so I’ve been using it as a pre-cleansing addition to my night time routine, but, I can definitely see how you can get away with just the cleansing.

A little bit about Micellar water: the water contains ‘micelles’ which are microscopic oil spheres which act like magnets and capture and dissolve the impurities without stripping your skin.  Using a cotton pad, the cleaning agents gently lift away make-up without any rubbing necessary and leaves your skin feeling really soft and hydrated. I quite like to use it when I come home from work and can’t wait to get my make-up off because it is so refreshing and it’s perfect for removing eye make-up (and lipstick).   My skin can also be a bit temperamental so I love that it is gentle enough for sensitive skin with no harsh chemicals to irritate or inflame your skin.

I went with Garnier because my eye was drawn to their pretty packaging and it’s great value for money. I picked up this 400ml bottle from Clicks for just R79,99 which I think is quite a steal, especially as it gives 200 uses. This is fast becoming a staple in my beauty box since I don’t know how I managed without it before – and I have make-up free towels!  Now they just need to bring out travel sized bottles 🙂

PS. I’ve only tried the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for Sensitive Skin, which has the pink top, but there is another variant, Garnier Pure Active Micellar Cleansing Water which has the minty blue top, but as it contains denatured alcohol which is better suited for acne prone skin, I decided to give it a miss (it can be quite drying on sensitive skin).
