Quality time with my girlfriends is something that sits high up on my priority list. Whether it’s a coffee catch up, dinner date or a quick drink after work, nothing makes me happier than catching up with the girls! I love that we can have deep, meaningful conversations about life, love and everything in between but also talk a whole lot nothingness! Simply put, time with the girls is food for my soul! And what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the winter sunshine than getting creative while catching up? Well that’s exactly what we did a few weeks ago when we headed to the Clay Café in Hout Bay. This gem of a spot located just off the Main Road, is the perfect an opportunity for adults and children to unleash their inner artist and really get creative!
With an abundance of unfired bisque to choose from – from mugs to jugs, vases and bowels – there is something for everyone. Once you’ve finally selected your ceramic of choice, you then need to choose which three colour paints to use – we made sure we each had at least one different one so that we had a few more to choose from and then it’s time to get comfy and paint away! Once you’ve finally perfected your little masterpiece – and we all struggled to know when to stop! – you paint your table number (when you make your booking, your table gets allocated a number) on the bottom of your item and off it goes for firing. This takes 3 weeks and you need to go back and collect it. I settled on a little milk jug to put my pens in and it’s looks so gorgeous on my new desk 😊
I loved the beautiful views and spacious grounds– perfect for the kiddies to run wild! We had booked a table (this is essential) for lunchtime and ordered delicious wraps from their farm style lunch menu before settling down to paint. All the food served is freshly made and fresh produce from their veggie garden makes it’s way into all the salads and wraps. The café is also open for breakfast and they have a huge array of cakes, coffees and sweet treats to choose from – their coffee milkshake gets two thumbs up from me!

The Cafe is open from 09h00 to 17h00 seven days a week so there is plenty of opportunity to unleash your inner Picasso!
